The Adjala-Tosorontio Fire Department relies on volunteer “paid on call” firefighters to staff our fire department. These individuals are committed to providing fire protection services in their local areas and the community at large.

Volunteer firefighters play an important role in keeping our communities safe from fire and other hazards and provide important Public Education and Fire Prevention services.

Wednesday, July 23 at 7 P.M. - Station 1 located at 6234 County Road 13 in Everett

Monday, August 11 at 7 P.M. - Station 2 located at 2821 Regional Road 50 in Loretto

These events offer prospective applicants an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about ATFD and the hiring process, including the OFAI testing requirements.

In addition to guided tours of the fire stations, attendees can speak with staff and volunteers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Reside within  8 kms of an ATFD Fire Station
    • Station 1: 6234 County Road 13, Everett ON
    • Station 2: 2821 Simcoe County Road 50, Loretto ON
  • Ability to provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire
  • Ability to provide successful completion of testing through Ontario Fire Administration Inc (OFAI) - Stage 1 & 3 upon hire
  • Possess a valid G Ontario Drivers Licence, and ability to provide a clean driver's abstract upon hire
  • Ability to meet &/or exceed ATFD targets for attending training and emergency calls

Applicants must complete Stage 1/FACT and Stage 3/FPAT assessments. All fees associated with testing are the responsibility of the applicant. 

 Ontario Fire Administration Inc (OFAI)

Candidates must successfully complete job-specific testing through Ontario Fire Administration Inc (OFAI). The 2 assessments are:

Stage 3 – Firefighter Physical Aptitude Job-Related Tests (FPAT) 

Stage 1 – Firefighter Aptitude and Character Test (FACT)
