​​​​Clerk's Office​​

The Clerk's Office is responsible for the preparation of By-laws, Resolutions, Agendas, and Minutes​ while overseeing the statutory obligations of the Municipal Act.

The Clerk is the Returning Officer for Municipal Elections being responsible for conducting the election, preparing for the election, preparing for and conducting recounts and maintaining peace and order in connection with the election.

The Clerk is a signing officer, in conjunction with the Mayor for all legal documents and is also the contact person for someone wishing to make a deputation to Council.

Commissioner of Oaths

Commissioner of Oaths services are offered through the Clerk's Department, at the Municipal Centre and include affidavits, oaths and statutory declarations.  The Township does not have a Notary Public and cannot notarize documents.   A list of Notary Publics and lawyers, who can notarize documents, can be found in your local phone directory. 

Since the requirement of the documents vary, it is recommended that you contact the Township in advance of your visit to confirm that your documents can be commissioned by the Township. 

To have a document commissioned, each party required to sign the document must visit the Township in person and must present an original piece of photo identification (no copies permitted) in the form of government issued photo identification (i.e. valid driver's licence, a valid passport) for each party required to sign the document.  The document(s) to be commissioned must be signed in the presence of a Commissioner of Oaths. 

The Township of Adjala – Tosorontio charges a fee of $15.00 per document payable by cash, debit, cheque.  Pension documents are free of charge.  This service is offered Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
